The tachometer graduation (tachymeter) on the case ring or on the dial of chronographs is used to measure the speed of a moving car – for example, over a distance of 1 km (or 1 mile).
- With rotating tachometer ring, set tachometer number 60 to 12 o'clock.
- Start the stop function with pusher 4 when the vehicle passes the starting point of the measuring distance.
- Press pusher 4 again when the vehicle passes the end point of the measuring section.
The pointer on the speedometer scale corresponds to the speed in km (miles) per hour. In the example below, the vehicle took 40 seconds to cover the measuring distance, which corresponds to an average speed of 90 km/h (or 90 miles/h).
Average speeds below 60 km/h or 60 miles/h cannot be measured
- Press pusher 5 and set all counters to zero.
