All Calibre 400 Series movements offer resistance to the magnetism most of us experience in daily life. We’re talking about resistance to magnetic fields emitted by kitchen appliances, car airbags, handbag clasps, smart devices and the covers we attach to them and so on. To put a figure on it, watches powered by Calibre 400 Series movements are resistant to 2,250 gauss. We achieved this by designing the calibre’s base architecture with more than 30 non-ferrous and anti-magnetic components, including a silicon escape wheel and a silicon anchor. The deviation in rate after testing was less than +/-10 seconds a day, which is more than 90 per cent better than a standard Sellita/ETA movement. We didn’t try to beat records just for the sake of it as it is not realistic to use any watch under the permanent influence of a magnetic field for extended periods of time. What’s essential in daily life is to minimise the remaining and lasting negative impact of magnetic fields on the accuracy of a watch.
