It depends on the interpretation of the term: it applies to both style and function. So a diver’s watch that’s water-resistant to at least 20 bar (200 metres) and that passes the ISO 6425 standard is functionally a diver’s watch. Oris Divers Sixty-Five watches are not ISO 6425 tested, but they carry over the historic design of our original diver’s watch of 1965. To increase the water resistance was technically possible, but it would have significantly altered the design’s beautiful mid-century aesthetic. With 10 bar (100 metres) water resistance, the Divers Sixty-Five can be worn for snorkelling, but we do not recommended it for diving. For scuba diving, we recommend a watch with at least 30 bar (300 metres) of water resistance, such as the Aquis Date, or the AquisPro.
